WINCHESTER, Va. – Alston Thompson scored a season-high 17 points in Guilford College's 75-60 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) basketball win at Shenandoah University.

The victory extended Guilford's (11-2, 4-0 ODAC) winning streak to six and marked their ninth in 12 games. With 11 wins in their first 13 games, the Quakers are off to their best start since 2012-13.

The win also marked the 500th overall coaching win for Quakers' head coach Tom Palombo. Palombo, who compiled a 141-50 record in seven years as a head women's basketball coach, now has a 359-177 mark in 19-plus seasons as a men's mentor. His overall record in 26-plus years as a head basketball coach stands at 500-227. Palombo is 259-114 in 13-plus seasons as the Quakers' men' basketball coach.

Thompson had 10 by halftime, which helped the visitors open a 31-16 advantage. Guilford limited the Hornets (5-8, 1-3 ODAC) to just five first-half baskets in 24 attempts (20.8%) and forced nine turnovers that led to 13 Quakers' points. Carson Long's three-pointer capped an 11-0 Guilford run over a five-minute stretch that turned a 6-5 deficit into a 17-6 lead. Shenandoah's Gabriel Gonzalez stopped the sport with a three-pointer, but Guilford reeled off the next eight points and effectively put the game out of reach.

Shenandoah's Evan Clark (12 points) and Evan Bates (10 points) both knocked down three three-pointers in the second half, but Guilford's lead grew to as many as 27 with 6:18 remaining. The Hornets scored 19 of the game's final 26 points.

Long finished with 12 points and Dominique Henderson added 11 for the Quakers. Guilford enjoyed a 45-34 edge in rebounding thanks to Marcus Curry's team-best seven caroms. Mason Reyer knocked in three three-pointers to finish with nine points off the bench. The Quakers outscored Shenandoah in the paint, 22-10.

Shenandoah's Clark shared game-high scoring honors with 17 points and Bates finished with 10. Clark also made a game-high 11 rebounds.
