DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley University dropped an 84-72 home decision to visiting Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom rival DeSales University as the Bulldogs placed six players in double figures in scoring.

The Aggies fell to 6-8 overall and 1-1 in the conference while DeSales improved to 10-3 and 2-0.

DelVal got out to a 7-4 lead early in the contest, but it was short-lived as the Bulldogs countered with a 21-3 spurt to go up 25-10 with 9:35 on the clock. Brandon Bridy, Connor Jones and Kuity Slanger each had five points for DeSales during that stretch. The Bulldogs went onto shoot 56.3 percent (18-for-32) from the field in the first half compared to 33.3 percent (10-for-30) from the Aggies who trailed, 48-35 at the break.

DelVal fought back in the second, opening the stanza with a 9-1 run as a layup from Alex Matsinye and seven straight points by Tyliek Kimbough made it 50-44 with 15:19 to play. DeSales got its lead back to double digits after Tracy Simsick connected from beyond the arc to make it 60-49 with 13 minutes left on the clock.

From there, the Aggies fought back. Tyrea Williams sparked the run with a layup followed by an alley-oop off a lob from Tyliek Kimbrough. DelVal then forced a turnover at the other end and Mike Cianciulli hit a trey to cut the deficit to four with 10:20 on the clock. Neither team scored over the next three and a half minutes until Williams flushed another alley-oop, this time from Matsinye. On the Bulldogs ensuing possession, Williams rejected Bridy at the rim and Matsinye hit a jumper on the end to knot the score at 60 with just over six minutes left in regulation.

Unfortunately for the Aggies, DeSales was quick to respond as it countered with an 18-3 run over the next five minutes of play and never looked back.

Kimbrough led DelVal with 22 points and five assists followed by Matsinye's 17 points and two assists. Cianciulli hit four treys in the game and finished with 16 points while Williams grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds to go with eight points and three blocks.

Bridy led the Bulldogs with 20 points and seven rebounds and Slanger finished with 13 points, seven boards and five assists. Laird dropped 12 points to go along with four steals while Simsick and Ryan Callahan each recorded 11 points. Jones was the sixth player in double figures with 14 points.

The Aggies will travel to Wilkes University for a MAC Freedom game on Wednesday, January 11 (8 p.m.).
