OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's basketball team downed conference-foe Oneonta—87-78—on Friday evening. Oswego improves to 8-3 overall and 4-1 in the SUNYAC, meanwhile the Red Dragons fall to .500 at 6-6 and are 3-2 in the conference.

Oswego had many players turn in strong outings in a game that saw both sides turn in an impressive overall performance. Four Lakers scored in double-digits led by Brian Sortino and Keith Tyson. The seniors turned in 20-point performances.

Another senior, Mykelle Krecko had a monster second half after getting shaken up and leaving the contest earlier. He returned and finished with a 14-point and 14-rebound double-double.

Prior to fouling out on a questionable call, Tyson led the Lakers with 8-of-14 (57%) shooting including two deep balls. With the loss of offense after Tyson's exit, Sortino, Krecko and Ian Shupp were forced to step up.

Midway through the final quarter, Schupp kept the Lakers in the lead despite a mounting charge from the Red Dragons. The junior hit back-to-back jumpers at the nine minute mark to extend the Laker lead to eight. He was also strong from the charity stripe, hitting four free throws. Later on, Krecko and Sortino combined to score the final 12 points.

Oswego earned a 50.0% field goal percentage on the evening and limited its turnovers, which kept it in front for the entirety of the game. Meanwhile, Oneonta did not let up despite falling behind at times as it shot just over 47%.

Men's basketball returns to action at 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon to play the New Paltz Hawks at Max Ziel Gymnasium.
