Vikings Sail Past Albion

ALBION, Mich. – Frontcourt mates Jason Zahran and Kirk Douglas combined for 33 points, but they were not able to keep pace with North Park University's 3-point shooting as the the 19th-ranked Vikings walked out of Kresge Gymnasium with an 84-65 victory over Albion College.

Jordan Robinson scored five points early as North Park sprinted out to a 7-0 lead.

Zahran provided Albion's answer, scoring on three consecutive possessions as Albion gained a 14-12 lead 6 ½ minutes into the game.

Albion let North Park pull away when it missed six shots from the field and two free throws during a four-minute stretch of the first half. The Vikings ripped off a nine-point run to build a 29-21 lead and they never looked back.

The Vikings led 36-26 at halftime and they outscored Albion 48-39 in the second half.

Zahran produced career highs of 19 points and 10 rebounds to complete his first career double-double. Douglas knocked down 7-of-8 shots to finish with 14 points. Darius Branch led the Britons backcourt with 12 points.

Robinson led all players with 23 points. He stuffed the box score with five rebounds, three blocks and two assists.

Robinson received support from Juwan Henry with 19 points and Billy Kirby with 16.

Albion will take a 3-6 record to Greensboro, N.C., as it plays Dec. 29-30 games in the Guilford College Holiday Classic.
