FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College men's basketball team scored 53 second half points to erase an 11-point halftime deficit on the way to a 76-65 victory over Randolph on the opening night of the Rotary of Frederick Holiday Classic. 

The Blazers shot 62 percent in the final 20 minutes to overcome a hot first half from the WildCats. 

Hood kept up its hot start to the season, improving to 9-1 on the year for the first time in school history.

Difference Makers

• Scott Bolen led a group of four Hood players to reach double digits. He sank 4 of 5 field goals and 6 of 7 free throws to finish with 15 points. 
• Luke Casey, Ian Eversull and Tanner Ruths each scored 10 points. 
• Daniel Wegener grabbed eight rebounds and Trevor Magnuski dished out five assists. Wegener had six offensive boards and scored eight of his nine points in the second half. 

How it Happened

• The Blazers trailed 34-23 at halftime. Randolph led by a dozen 41-29 after a 3-point field goal by Reid Jacoby in the opening minutes of the second half, but Hood answered with an 36-11 run over the next 13 minutes to take control of the game.
• Michael Riley gave the Blazers a 47-46 edge with 12:16 left before a Drew Hayden 3-pointer reclaimed the lead for the WildCats. Kobe Butler hit a 3-pointer and a layup to give Hood a 53-49 lead with 9:14 left and the Blazers never trailed again. Hood eventually went up 65-52 after a three-point by Eversull.

Notes

• Ryan Fields led Randolph with 14 points and Jacoby added 13. Colton Lee came off the bench for 12 points on four 3-pointers.

Hood takes on East. Mennonite on Sunday, December 18 at 3 p.m., while Randolph plays Stockton at 1 p.m.

Game One

The Ospreys outlasted the Royals in the opener. Five players scored in double digits for Stockton, all with either 12 or 11 points. EMU had equally balanced scoring, with no one in the game topping 12 points.
