Albion falls at Northwood

MIDLAND, Mich. – Brad Schaub, Zach Allread and P.J. Weaver hit 3-point shots on consecutive possessions as Northwood University built a double-digit lead in the second half and it went on to score a 88-72 victory over Albion College in non-league men's basketball action.

Matt Crowl and Allread dialed up from long distance late in the first half to give Northwood a 38-33 lead after 20 minutes.

Albion cut the deficit to three twice early in the second half. Corey Wheeler hit a pair of free throws on the Britons first possession and Darius Branch added a jumper.

Branch scored all 11 of his points in the second half. He hit 5-of-8 shots from the field.

Kirk Douglas achieved his scoring high at Albion with 15 points and Jaylin Fordham added 10.

Allread led all players with 20 points. He was joined in double figures by Crowl (19), Nick Spitzley (13) and Schaub (10).

The road doesn't get any easier for Albion as North Central College, ranked ninth in the latest D3hoops.com poll, visits Kresge Gymnasium for a 7 o'clock game Tuesday night.
