Bulldogs Balance Downs Ravens In Season Opener

CENTER VALLEY – The Rosemont Ravens Men's Basketball team got their 2016-2017 campaign off to a rough start as they fell to the Bulldogs of DeSales University by a 94-60 final. The Ravens drop to 0-1 to start the year, while DeSales goes to 1-0.

The scoring started 22 seconds in when the Bulldogs Luke Connaghan made it 2-0. Rosemont then picked up their first basket of the season on a layup by Jamier Hughes with 18:23 left. With DeSales leading 22-18, the Bulldogs would put some distance between the two teams going on a 16-0 run culminating in another Connaghan basket making it 38-18. Another 9-0 Bulldogs run later in the half continued to keep the Ravens at bay, and the two teams headed to the locker room at 52-26 DeSales.

At the start of the second half Rosemont came out with some much-needed energy. A layup by Clayton Wolfe started an 8-0 run for the Ravens trimming the lead to 54-34. The Bulldogs then answered with a 15-2 run of their own running the lead to 70-36 with 7:56 left in the game. From there the teams played back and forth each scoring 24 points to close out the game at 94-60.   

Rosemont was led offensively by Clayton Wolfe who scored 13 points. Jamier Hughes added 12 points including 6-6 at the free throw line. 

Four Bulldogs hit double figures in scoring combining for 50 points.

The Ravens will be back in action on Friday night for the Home Opener! Tipoff is at 7pm in Alumnae Hall.
