LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant men's basketball team could not replicate its prolific shooting from Friday night and struggled to a 89-74 loss to Emory & Henry on Saturday evening inside Barnes Physical Education Center.

Covenant (2-1) falls for the first time this season, while Emory & Henry (3-0) remains perfect.

A day after making 19 3-pointers in a win over Dallas, Covenant could only connect on five 3-pointers and shot 38.3 percent (23-of-60) from the field. The Scots did make 23-of-30 from the free throw line.

Berto Dryden led Covenant with 20 points and recorded two assists. Will Portlock had 15 points, nine rebounds and four assists, while Patjo Twagirayezu notched a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Connor Sears and Z Arima had nine points apiece, with Sears grabbing four rebounds.

Emory & Henry struck first on an Alic Wynn layup on the game's opening possession and the visiting Wasps would never trail in the contest. Emory & Henry led 45-28 at halftime after shooting 54.1 percent (20-of-37) in the first half, while Covenant connected on only 31.3 percent (10-of-32).

In the second half, Covenant would whittle away at the deficit and got as close as nine points at 78-69 after Dryden made a driving layup with 2:15 left. But the Wasps would make free throws down the stretch to hold off the Scots' rally.

Wynn had a double-double with a game-high 23 points and 16 rebounds for Emory & Henry. Colin Molden scored 21 points with Aaron Ferguson and Myles Turner scoring 12 and 11 points, respectively. Ryan Gravley dished out eight assists and had seven points.

The Wasps made 52.4 percent (33-of-63) for the game and 21-of-27 from the foul line. Emory & Henry also held a 40-32 rebounding edge.
