Five Saints Reach Double-Figures in 101-66 Win Over W&J

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – Five Saints scored in double-figures as the Thomas More College men's basketball team defeated Washington & Jefferson College, 101-66, today (Saturday, January 9, 2016) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints improve to 8-5 overall and 5-1 in the PAC.  With the loss, the Presidents' fall to 0-13 overall and 0-6 in the PAC.

W&J took an early 5-4 lead when Christian Rohaus made a three-pointer with 16:52 to play in the first half.  Thomas More answered with a 40-15 run to take a 44-20 lead with 2:31 to play in the first half when sophomore forward Austin Young (Campbellsburg, Ky./Henry County) made a three-pointer.  The Presidents' closed out the half on a 10-2 run to cut the lead to 46-30 at halftime when Joe Satira made a jumper with one-second to play in the half.

The Saints opened the second half on a 23-9 run to extend the lead to 69-39 when sophomore guard Daniel Williams (Louisville, Ky./Jeffersontown) made a three-point with 14:15 to play in the game.  W&J used a 10-5 run capped by a Rohaus lay-up with 12:12 to play in the game to cut the lead to 74-49.  That would be as close as W&J would come as Thomas More closed out the game on a 27-17 run for the 101-66 victory.

Scoring in double-figures was freshman guard Brandon Horne (Louisville, Ky./Male) with a game-high 20 points, Williams with 18, Young with 15, junior forward/center Simon Clifford (Louisville, Ky./DuPont Manual) with 12 and freshman guard Ryne Callahan (Morehead, Ky./Rowan County) with 11.  Horne led the team on the boards with seven rebounds.  The Saints were led in assists by Young, Horne and freshman center Junior Stockwell (Florence, Ky./Boone County) with six each.

Thomas More returns to action on Wednesday (January 13) when it hosts Geneva College at 7:30 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center.
