New Paltz Men's Basketball Falls, 89-55, to Brockport

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz men's basketball team dropped an 89-55 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) decision to The College at Brockport on Friday evening at the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium.
 
Junior forward Brandon Guest (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville) keyed the Hawk attack with 17 points, while junior forward Andrew Seniuk (Wantagh, N.Y./MacArthur) added 11 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore guard Dylan Balducci (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) drained eight points in 18 minutes coming off the bench.
 
For Brockport, freshman guard Josh Nelson and senior guard/forward Pat Modzelewski scored 18 points apiece, with Modzelewski's total coming in reserve duty. Sophomore guard Hamed Shamseldin posted 14 points coming off the bench, while sophomore forward David Clark added 10 points.
 
Brockport cruised to the win due in large part to 55.4 percent (36-of-65) shooting from the floor and a 44-26 margin in rebounds.
 
New Paltz drops to 1-9 overall (0-4 SUNYAC) with the loss and visits SUNY Geneseo next tomorrow at 4 p.m. Brockport rises to 6-3 overall (1-1 SUNYAC) with the win and hosts SUNY Oneonta tomorrow at 4 p.m.
 
After the Golden Eagles seized a 48-28 halftime lead and scored the opening basket of the second half, the Hawks went on a 6-0 run, with a Seniuk free throw drawing New Paltz within 16 points. Brockport countered with an 8-0 scoring spree and led by more than 20 points the remainder of the contest.
