Hartford, Conn. – Sophomore Eric Gendron (Merrimack, N.H.) had 17 points to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 90-63 victory over the King's College Monarchs in the consolation round of the FNC Bank/Monarch Men's Basketball Classic in Schandlon Gymnasium this afternoon.  Trinity, ranked No. 15 in the nation, improves to 5-3, while King's drops to 6-5.  The Bantams are off for exams and the holidays for 18 days, but will host the Trinity Holiday Classic on December 30 and 31.  King's next plays at Muhlenberg at January 4.

Trinity jumped all over the tournament hosts, taking a 13-2 lead 5:41 into the game on a layup by first-year guard Paul Colson (Baldwin, N.Y.) and extending its lead to 28-7 on an Ed Ogundeko (Brooklyn, N.Y.) dunk after a steal and assist by senior captain guard Andrew Hurd (Windsor, Conn.) with 8:37 left in the first half.  King's scored the last six points of the first half to close to 42-29 at intermission on a jumper by Derek Wilkins.  The Bantams scored the first seven points of the second frame on a long ball by senior captain Rick Naylor (Sudbury, Vt.) and a layup and a dunk by senior captain Shay Ajayi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) to push their advantage back up to 20 at 49-29, and maintained a comfortable cushion the rest of the way.

Five Bantams reached double figures in scoring, as senior captain guard Jaquann Starks (Hartford, Conn.) had 15, Naylor scored 13, Ajayi had 11, and Ogundeko added 10.  Ajayi paced Trinity with seven boards and Hurd dished eight assists.  Gendron, who also blocked a pair of shots, represented Trinity on the all-tournament team.  Chris Fazzini led all scorers with 18 points and made the all-tourney team for the Monarchs.
