DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Senior forwards Barry Brockington and Chris Moran combined for 35 points and 11 rebounds as Delaware Valley University captured its seventh win in a row with a 76-56, non-conference triumph over visiting Bryn Athyn College.

 

The Aggies improved its overall record to 7-1, the best start in program history. The Lions saw their mark drop to 0-5.

 

Brockington keyed the first half as he scored 14 of his game-high 19 points in the opening 20 minutes. Meanwhile, it was Moran in the second half as he picked up 10 of his 16 points in the final stanza. Moran, who leads the team in scoring (20.3 avg), rebounding (9.4) and field goal percentage (.555), also grabbed seven rebounds in the game, all on the defensive end.

 

DelVal shot well to start the game, but permitted 16 points in the opening eight minutes. The Aggies then gave up four more points in the next three minutes as Bryn Athyn tied the game at 20-20 with 8:35 remaining in the half.  

 

However, DelVal pulled away from there as it scored 16 of the final 22 points of the stanza to take a 36-26 game. All five starters scored during the run with Moran, Alex Matsinye and Zach Sly pouring in four apiece.

 

The Aggies then began the second half with a 25-6 run that upped their advantage to 29, 61-32, with 11:40 remaining. Moran had all 10 of his second-half points during this time while Brockington, Matsinye and Tyliek Kimbrough had five each. The lead ballooned to as many as 33 before DelVal went to its bench as all 15 players saw action on Saturday.

 

The Aggies shot 48.1 percent from the field while holding the Lions to 31.1 percent, including a 7-for-26 effort (26.9%) in the second stanza. DelVal had a 40-20 advantage with points in the paint, a 22-8 advantage in points off turnovers and a 16-6 edge in second-chance scoring. Kimbrough finished with 12 points while Matsinye had 11. They each also added three rebounds and three assists. Tyrea Williams came off the bench to contribute four points, six rebounds and two blocks in 13 minutes.

 

For Bryn Athyn, Deion Boyer, Luis Martinez, Christian Rivera and Adonis Rivera had eight points apiece. Stephan Tucker added seven points and a team-best eight rebounds.

 

DelVal will look to make it eight in a row when it hosts Elizabethtown College for a non-conference game on Tuesday, December 15
