Thomas More Falls on the Road at Westminster

(NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.) –The Thomas More College men's basketball team fell, 72-60, to Westminster College today (Saturday, December 5, 2015) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at Buzz Ridl Gymnasium in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania.

With the loss, the Saints fall to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the PAC.  With the win, the Titans improve to 2-5 overall and 2-0 in the PAC.

The Saints took an early 3-1 lead when sophomore guard Daniel Williams (Louisville, Ky./Jeffersonville) made a three-pointer with 17:14 to play in the first half.  Westminster answered with a 25-7 run capped by a John Arcuri three-point with 8:00 to play in the opening half to build a 26-10 lead.  Thomas More used a 10-3 run to cut the lead to 29-20 with 4:36 to play in the half when sophomore forward Austin Young (Campbellsburg, Ky./Henry County) made a jumper.  The Titans closed out the half on a 10-7 run to take a 39-27 halftime lead when Charlie Wallander made two free-throws with three-seconds to play in the first half.

Westminster opened the second half on a 17-9 run to extend the lead to 56-36 when Austin Armwood made a jumper with 11:59 to play in the game.  Thomas More answered with a 21-10 run to cut the lead to 63-57 with 2:53 to play in the game when junior forward/center Simon Clifford (Louisville, Ky./DuPont Manual) made two free-throws.  That would be as close as the Saints would come as Westminster closed out the game on a 9-3 run as it won the game 72-60.

Thomas More was led in scoring by Clifford and freshman guard Damion King (Winchester, Ky./George Rogers Clark), who he scored 10 points.  Williams just must double-figure scoring with nine points and led the team in assists with three.  Clifford led the team on the boards with eight rebounds.

The Saints are idle until next Saturday (December 12) when they host Grove City College at 4 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
