FROSTBURG, Md. - Hood College's Davon Hill (Clinton, Md. / Potomac School) was named the most valuable player and Scott Bolen (Ashton, Md. / Sherwood) joined him on the all-tournament team, after the Blazers picked up a 75-72 win over Saint Vincent to win the FSU Tournament Championship.

Hill scored a career-high 22 points in the championship game victory, hitting two 3-point field goals and going 8-of-9 at the free throw line. Trevor Magnuski (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) scored 10 points, sinking all six of his free throw attempts.

A trio of freshman also contributed to the win. Ian Eversull (Ijamsville, Md. / Urbana) went 4-of-6 off the bench and finished with 12 points. Daniel Wegener (Falling Waters, W.Va. / Broadfording Christian (Md.)) led the team with nine rebounds and Jared Ruiz (Frederick, Md. / Oakdale) dished out six assists.

Hood shot 27-of-30 at the free throw line. The Blazers' 90 percent success rate tied for the third highest single game mark in program history. The team also hit 49 percent from the field and went 4-of-9 from 3-point range.

The win gave Head Coach Chad Dickman a victory over his alma mater as Hood improved to 3-0 on the year.

Hill scored five early points to fuel a 13-2 run to open the game. Hood led by as many as 14 before settling for a 38-31 lead at halftime.

A lay up by Wegener gave the Blazers a 46-37 lead with 15:56 left in the game. The Bearcats answered with four straight points by Bobby Swartwout to open a game-tying 9-0 run. JC Howard cut Hood's lead to three, then knocked down a 3-pointer to tie things at 46-46. After two free throws by Tanner Ruths (Stephens City, Va. / Sherando), Howard scored to tie the game again at 48-48 with 12:25 remaining.

A minute later, Eversull scored down low and was fouled. He converted the three-point play for a 51-48 lead to put Hood on top for good.

The Bearcats cut the lead to one after a three by Jaylon Bell made it 73-72 with 16 seconds to play. With St. Vincent forced to foul, Hill sank a pair of free throws for a 75-72 edge. A 3-point attempt by Pat Jones with three seconds on the clock was off the mark, allowing the Blazers to escape with the win.

Howard and Jones scored 14 apiece to lead the Bearcats. Bell and Swartwout both finished with 11 points. Bell tallied seven assists and Swartwout led the team with six boards.

Hood limited Saint Vincent to just 38 percent shooting and 29 percent from 3-point distance.
