Berry College men's basketball falls at Hendrix

CONWAY, Ark. - - Despite Nick Marder's 22 points for the Vikings, the Berry College men's basketball team lost to Hendrix College, 88-72, on Friday night.

The loss dropped the Vikings to 7-15 overall and 3-8 in the Southern Athletic Association. The win improved the Warriors to 7-15 and 2-9.

Marder, a freshman, led the Berry offense on the night with a season-high 22 points. He collected seven rebounds, was 8-15 shooting, and 6-8 from the free throw line.

Three other Berry players posted double digits on the night: Owen JacobsTyler Harville and Samuel Powell

Jacobs collected his seventh double-double of the year, scoring 20 points and collecting 16 rebounds in the loss. He was 6-13 shooting, and 8-12 from the free throw line as well. Harville scored 11 points for the Vikings. He was 8-15 shooting, and he also shot 6-8 from the free throw line. Powell netted 10 points in addition to grabbing seven rebounds.

For the Warriors, Hank Aldous posted 23 points. Aldous was 9-17 shooting and also sank two three-pointers in the win.

Although HC shot 48-percent (27-56) to Berry's 34-percent (25-73), the Viking's led in rebounds (44-40) and steals (7-5).

Hendrix led 38-25 at halftime. The Warriors led by as many as 18 points in the contest. The Vikings cut the margin to seven points twice in the last 4:12, but got no closer.

The Vikings will travel to Memphis, Tennessee, on Sunday, February 15 when they take on Rhodes College at 4 p.m.​
