FARMINGTON, Maine – Cassius Belfon erupted for 28 points off the bench and Boo Agee flirted with a triple-double as Green Mountain College got past University of Maine at Farmington, 89-75, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon at Dearborn Gym. The win improves the Eagles' overall record to 5-10 and evens out its conference mark at 5-5.

The last time an Eagles' team reached five conference wins came back in the 2009-10 season when the team reached the NAC Championship semifinals.

Belfon's game-high 28 points were the result of a 7-for-12 day from the field which included a 4-of-7 mark from downtown and a 10-of-13 performance from the free throw line as the senior refused to settle for perimeter shots despite being one of the conference's best shooters from deep this season. Agee drove the offense with 16 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Darius Wynn scored all of his 15 points from beyond the arc thanks to a 5-for-10 day from deep. Chris Strong and Cameron Anderson both contributed 12 points to close out the Eagles' players in double-figure scoring.

UMaine-Farmington (4-12, 3-7 NAC) had four players reach double-digit points led by Nick Hilton who scored 22 and added seven rebounds. Uriah Forest-Bulley posted a double-double with 16 points and a game-high 13 boards. Pet Sumner and Logan Nichols rounded out the scorers with 10 or more as Sumner had 14 points, while Nichols had 10 to go along with seven assists.

The contest was a see-saw battle for the entire first half and approximately half way through the second stanza before Green Mountain was able to begin to pull away from the hosts. There were 10 lead changes and seven ties throughout the game.

The game remained close until Belfon and Agee hit consecutive three-pointers with 10:12 remaining in the second half giving the Eagles a comfortable 11-point lead.

A Hilton jumper at the 3:48 mark got the Beavers to within five points at 74-69. However, Belfon would score 12 of his 28 points from that point on to help the Eagles secure the victory.

The Beavers actually outshot the Eagles in this game, but where the Eagles did hold an advantage was in the number of three-pointers and free throws made. GMC hit 13 treys to just four for UMF and 70 percent (14-of-20) of its free throws to just 42 percent (3-of-7) for the hosts.

Green Mountain will next host Maine Maritime on Friday at 5:30 as the Eagles will attempt to sweep the season series against the Mariners.
