MIAC battle of ranked teams goes to UST

In a game that saw 10 players score in double figures, No. 3-ranked St. Thomas outlasted the No. 19-ranked Oles (13-2, 8-2) on the Oles' floor Wednesday night in Northfield.

The Tommies (14-1 overall, 9-1 MIAC) used a game-closing 15-4 run to claim their 10th consecutive win and took over sole possession of the conference lead at the halfway mark of the 20-game race.

Grant Shaeffer had 16 of his game-high 22 points in the second half as the Tommies shot 53 percent and had just six turnovers. Senior center Conner Nord added 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Sterling Nielsen scored 17 for St. Olaf (13-2, 8-2), which shot 61 percent and had only seven turnovers.
