Baruch Defeated at Wesleyan (62-55)

The Baruch College Bearcats dropped a 62-55 non-conference contest to the Cardinals from Wesleyan University on Monday afternoon in Middletown, Connecticut.

The loss snaps a six-game winning streak as the Bearcats fall to 12-4.

Both teams struggled shooting from the field with the visiting Bearcats at 29 percent (18-of-53) and Cardinals at 25 percent (23 of 53) to set up the low-scoring affair.

The Bearcats led by nine points (42-33) midway through the second half after back-to-back treys from
Bryler Paigegave them their biggest lead of the afternoon.

The Cardinals (12-5) from the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) slowly chipped away at the deficit until a jumper by BJ Davis gave them their first lead of the second half of 57-55 with 43 seconds left. They sealed the win by connecting on five of six free throws in the final 19 seconds to record the home victory.

Paige,
Edward Roscigno(5 assists) and Granville Gittens(8 rebounds, 2 blocks) finished with 12 points each in the tough loss.

BJ Davis was the top scorer for the hosts with 15 points, six rebounds and four assists.

The men's basketball team (12-4, 8-0 CUNYAC) will return to action on Friday, January 23, with a 7:30 pm CUNYAC home contest versus rival Hunter College Hawks.
