SEWANEE, Tenn. (Jan. 13, 2015) – Led by a double-double from Keshonn Carter and three other players in double figures, the Sewanee men's basketball team posted a 61-44 victory over visiting Hiwassee, Tuesday, inside Juhan Gymnasium.

The Tigers have now won three straight and seven of their last nine games. Sewanee (9-5 overall) also has a 6-1 record inside Juhan Gymnasium this season.

Sewanee opened the game on an 8-3 run. However, Hiwassee answered back eventually tying the game at 14-14 with 13:00 minutes gone in the opening 20 minutes. The score would remain close throughout the first half.

Out of the locker room, Sewanee came out strong. The Tigers scored 12 of the first 18 points to lead 39-27, with 14:43 to play. Down 10 with 11:21 remaining, Hiwassee tried to rally. A three by Joel Bailey, and a pair free throws by Jordan Sexton, eventually cut the Hiwassee deficit to six, 42-36.

However, over the next minute, Jorden Williams took over for Sewanee. The SAA leading scorer hit three straight three-point shots, which pushed Sewanee's advantage to 12, 53-41, with 5:50 remaining.

From there, the Tigers did not look back. Late free throws by Brody Stone, Williams, and Taylor Howell sealed the win for Sewanee.

Like they have most of the season, defense and rebounding again led the Tigers. Sewanee limited Hiwassee to a 32.7 field-goal percentage while outrebounding its opposition 42-25.

Along with Carter's 12-point, 10-rebound double-double, Seth Brown continued to play well with 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting.

Additionally, Williams added a game-high 15 points while Stone pitched in 12 points and five boards.

Kaseem Davidson led Hiwassee with 14 points and five rebounds.

Sewanee returns to Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play with a 3:00 (EST) contest at rival Centre, Saturday.
