CHICOPEE, Mass.—Sophomore Joey Flannery (Acton, Mass.) finished with 19 points, nine rebounds and five assists, and 17th-ranked Babson College shot 64.8 percent from the floor to cruise past Elms College, 86-57, in non-conference men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon at Picknelly Arena.

With its ninth consecutive victory, Babson moves to 10-1 overall, while Elms, which has now dropped two straight games, falls to 3-7 on the year.

Flannery went 9-of-12 from the floor in just 23 minutes to lead the Beavers. Senior Eric Dean(Gilford, N.H.) scored 16 points on 6-of-8  shooting, and classmate John Wickey (Manchester, N.H.) finished with 16 points, five rebounds and four assists. First-year Bradley Jacks (Fort Washington, Md.) came off the bench to contribute six points and a career-high six boards, while sophomore Sam Bohmiller (Franklin, Mass.) dished out a career-best five assists in the win.

Junior Jerry Buchanon (Windsor, Conn.) scored 16 points, and senior Kenny Lockett (Atlanta, Ga.) added 11 points and four rebounds for the Blazers.

The Green and White never trailed, scoring on each of its first six possessions to build an 11-4 lead just 3:02 into the contest. Lockett pulled Elms within 18-14 on a jumper with 12:42 to play in the opening stanza, but two free throws by Dean, followed by back-to-back hoops by Flannery gave the visitors a 24-14 edge at the 10:26 mark.

Lockett cut it back to eight with another jumper, but a hoop by Bohmiller and then consecutive three-pointers by Dean put the Beavers in front 32-18 with 5:31 to go in the half. The Blazers trimmed their deficit to 13 on a three-pointer by first-year Keeshaun King (Jacksonville, Fla.) late in period, but layups by Jacks and Wickey put Babson in front 44-27 going to the locker room.

After trading hoops out of the locker room, the Beavers used a 10-1 spurt to take a 56-30 lead on a dunk by Flannery with 15:16 remaining in the game. Elms responded with five straight points but Babson countered with another 10-0 run to take its biggest lead of the contest at 68-35 on a layup by Charlie Rice (Barnstable, Mass.) with 10:52 to play.

The Green and White shot 33-of-51 from the floor and outscored the Blazers 50-22 in the paint on the day. The Beavers, who saw 13 different players get into the scoring column, finished with 10 second-chance points and took advantage of 16 points off 12 Elms' turnovers. 

The Blazers shot just 35.5 percent (22-of-62) from the field and went just 4-of-14 from beyond the arc on the day.

Babson returns to action on Wednesday when it opens NEWMAC play at Emerson at 7 p.m. Elms is idle until it hosts Wheelock next Saturday at 1 p.m.
