UW-La Crosse Drops Non-Conference Game with Bethel University

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's basketball team fell 84-62 to Bethel University (Minn.) Saturday afternoon in Mitchell Hall.  The Eagles drop to 4-5 on the season while the Royals improve to 7-1.  It was the first meeting between the team since the 1994-95 season. 

UW-L led 4-3 after a Skylar Cameron layup, but Bethel scored 15 straight points to lead 18-4 with 14:42 remaining in the first half. The Royals went 10-of-12 from the field to open the game and led 23-6 with 13:20 left.  Bethel led 42-18 with 5:16 left in the first half when UW-L finished the half on a 14-5 run to cut the lead to 47-32. 

Bethel shot 58.1% (18-of-31) from the field in the first half, including 62.5% (five-of-eight) from three-point range. 

The Royals opened the second half on a 14-4 run to lead 61-36 with 15:57 remaining. Bethel led by as many as 26 points in the second half and UW-L could get no closer than 15 points at 75-60 with 4:42 left after a Ryan Kruser three-point field goal. 

UW-L shot 37.7% from the field, including 31.6% (six-of-19) from three-point range, and 88.9% (16-of-18) at the line. 

Cale Zuiker led the Eagles with 18 points and six rebounds while Cameron finished with 11 points and five rebounds. Kruser added eight points. 

Bethel shot 54.8% from the field, including 33.3% (six-of-18) from three-point range, and 66.7% (10-of-15) at the line. 

Four of the Royals' five starters scored in double figures Saturday, including Brycen Wojta and Kyle Zimmermann with 22 point each. Zimmermann also grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds while Wojta finished with four assists and three steals. Trevor Hall added 14 points and Bridgeport Tusler 12. 

UW-L returns to action Monday, December 29 at 14th-ranked The College of Wooster (Ohio) at 6 p.m. (Central Time).
