Claremont, Calif. - Junior forward Gibson Farone-Collins had a career-high 26 points on 12-16 shooting, but it wasn't enough as Bristol was able to hold off the Sagehens down the stretch and capture a 76-70 win on Wednesday evening at Voelkel Gymnasium.

With the loss, the Sagehens fall to 2-4 on the young season, while Bristol improves to 3-8, including 3-1 against SCIAC teams (wins over Cal Lutheran and Occidental and a loss to Chapman).

The game was tied 48-48 when Bristol used a 10-0 run to take the lead for good, building its lead up to as many as 11 points at 63-52. The Sagehens then used a 9-0 run to close within two points, as Michael Cohen hit a three-pointer in transition and Reid Callan made a pair of foul shots with 4:47 to play to make the score 63-61.

Bristol pushed the lead back up to 70-63 on a long three-pointer from Brian Mahood, before Farone-Collins was able to convert twice on the offensive glass to pull within 70-68. Tade Keshishyan (21 points) had a driving lay-up with 1:20 left, and Kyle McAndrews was able to cut the lead to 72-70 with 18 seconds left, but Bristol made its foul shots down the stretch to seal it.

The Sagehens lost despite dominating the glass, holding a 39-23 advantage as Farone-Collins had eight boards (seven offensive) and Adrian Brandon added seven (five offensive). Pomona-Pitzer was done in by turnovers (18) and on the defensive end, where Bristol shot 30-57 from the floor (52.6 percent).

McAndrews, who led the Sagehens in scoring last year with 17.8 points per game, made his first appearance after missing the first five games of the year with an injury and finished with 14 points off the bench on 6-10 shooting. Mahood had 17 for the Bears to support Keshishyan's 21.

Pomona-Pitzer will be back in action on Saturday for a 7 p.m. home game against Westmont.
