Conner Nord and Ryan Saarela each scored 14 points as host St. Thomas scored a 75-43 win over St. Mary's in Wednesday night's MIAC men's basketball action in Schoenecker Arena.
No. 8-ranked St. Thomas (6-1 overall, 2-1 MIAC) used a 14-0 run in and out of halftime to build a 23-point lead. Coach John Tauer used all 17 available players and got points from 11 of them.
The Cardinals (1-3, 1-3), playing their first road game of the season, made 5-of-9 from 3-point range in the first half but missed all seven shots behind the arc in the second half.
Nord (eight) and Saarela (six) helped the Toms post a 42-32 rebounding advantage.
Taylor Montero added 10 points, six boards and four steals, and Cortez Tillman had nine points and three steals.
The Tommies continue to have a Division III-best six players with scoring averages in double figures.
St. Thomas plays Saturday at 3-0 Augsburg in another conference game (3 p.m.).
