Claremont, Calif. - Senior guard Michael Cohen had 11 of his 13 points in the second half, including five straight after the score was tied, to help the Pomona-Pitzer Men's Basketball team to a 63-59 win over Trinity (Texas) on Saturday evening.

With the win, the Sagehens level their record at 1-1 on the season after falling to Biola (an NAIA school) in their opener). Trinity slips to 0-4 on the year with the loss.

Junior Gibson Farone-Collins had a strong all-around game as well with 12 points, 13 rebounds and five assists, while freshman Hunter Lowry had 13 points, including three three-pointers in the second half.

Lowry's hot hand helped Pomona-Pitzer surge in front early in the second half. After the Tigers held a 32-27 lead at the break, and a 38-33 lead five minutes into the second, Lowry hit back-to-back threes 31 seconds apart to put the Sagehens in front 39-38. Farone-Collins followed with a jumper to cap off a quick 8-0 run, and after Trinity stopped the run on an A.J. Pulliam dunk after a timeout, Lowry hit another three-pointer to make the score 44-40.

A Cohen lay-up with 8:30 to go gave Pomona-Pitzer its largest lead at 52-45, but Trinity came all the way back to tie it 54-54 on a Josh Ingram lay-up. Cohen then stepped up big with a 15-foot jumper, and then knocked down a long three-pointer with 3:18 to go to put the Sagehens ahead by five.

A Lowry drive pushed the lead back up to seven points, and the Tigers hit a late three-pointer in the final 10 seconds from Matt Selling to make the final spread four. Trinity had four players in double figures, led by Jimmy Clark with 15 and Selling with 14.

Pomona-Pitzer is back in action next weekend for the David Wells Classic, hosting Grove City on Friday at 6 p.m. and Lewis & Clark on Saturday at 7 p.m.
