Taylor Montero had 20 points and six rebounds to lead No. 13-ranked St. Thomas to Saturday night's 90-69 men's basketball road win over No. 17-ranked Whitworth (Wash).

The Tommies (3-0) shot 65 percent from the field (31-of-48) and had only six turnovers with their top rotation on the floor. They knocked down 11-of-14 from 3-point range and 17-of-19 free throws.

Grant Shaeffer added 17 points and seven assists as he made all six field-goal tries and all four free throws.

Cortez Tillman came off the bench to score to score 15 points, including 4-of-4 from 3-point range. Marcus Alipate added 14 points with 4-of-5 from 3-point range. Ryan Saarela added 12 points.

UST led 45-35 at halftime, saw the lead trimmed to six points, then used a 20-8 run to take control.
