Gators stifle Tomcats’ comeback attempt

GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team was defeated by the Allegheny College Gators 63-59 in a non-conference contest at Beeghly Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.

Khari Bess led the Tomcats with 17 points while also dishing out five assists and recording three steals. Eric Mallinger and Justin Dade each scored 10 points. Mallinger also grabbed seven rebounds and blocked three shots. Freshman forward Clandell Cetoute came off the bench to contribute six points and three blocks.

Gator Brandon Smith had a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Evan Zabriski (16) and Josh Valentic (10) each scored double digits for the Gators.

The Tomcats (2-2) will look to rebound on Monday, Nov. 24 when they take on the Division II Ashland Eagles. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
