Freshman Aaron White (North Tonawanda, NY/Canisius) scored 18 points including 12 in the second half to lead The College at Brockport Men's Basketball team to a convincing 77-56 victory over Oswego in the semifinal round of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament Friday night in the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium in Brockport.

The Golden Eagles (22-3) advance to play Plattsburgh for the SUNYAC title at 4 pm Saturday in Brockport. Plattsburgh advanced with a 73-69 victory over Geneseo in the other semifinal game.

Oswego had eliminated Brockport from the SUNYAC Tournament in each of the last two seasons but Brockport broke the streak and advances to the championship game for the first time since 2010-11 when the Golden Eagles dropped the title game to Buffalo State. The last SUNYAC Championship for Brockport was in 2008-09 when the Golden Eagles won a 64-59 game over Fredonia. Brockport has won four tournament titles since 1979 when the tournament format was reinstated after a 14-year stretch where the regular-season champ was awarded the title.

After Brockport took a 30-17 at halftime, Oswego (17-9) chipped away at the lead and trailed by 10 points at 46-36 with 11 minutes left to play. White scored the next seven points for Brockport to push the lead to 13 as sophomore Olasola Adeniran (Elmont, NY/Sewanhaka) scored the next four points with a layup and two free throws before White capped the run with another 3-pointer stretching the lead to 18 points at 60-42.

Brandon Caruthers (Rochester, NY/East) scored the next six Brockport points and the lead was more than 20 points at 66-44 with six minutes remaining.

Brockport jumped out to an early 18-4 lead on the strength of Lyerly's fast start and a 3-point basket by White. Oswego answered with a 5-0 run to cut into the lead. The Golden Eagles finished the half on a 9-4 run for the 30-19 lead at the break.

White had a team-high 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting including 3-for-5 from beyond the 3-point arc. Fellow freshman Clifton Lyerly (Inwood, NY/Lawrence) scored six of Brockport's first eight points of the game and finished with 12 points and Caruthers chipped in 12 points, five rebounds and four steals. Patrick Coyle (North Chili, NY/Bishop Kearney) added five points and led the team with 10 rebounds.

Brockport's 22 wins in a season is tied for the fifth highest in school history and the most since the 2006-07 team won 26 games.
