ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Hood College made seven straight 3-point attempts at one point and finished 13-of-21 from beyond the arc in an 81-57 victory at Elizabethtown in Commonwealth Conference play.

The win clinched a berth in the upcoming Commonwealth Conference Championships as the Blazers improved to 10-6. With two games to play, Hood can finish anywhere from a tie for first to tied for fourth.

Overall, the victory gave the team 16, tying the 2011-12 team for the second highest total in school history.

The Blazers trailed 14-12 early after a bucket by Lee Eckert with 14:05 to play, but a traditional 3-point play by Justin Bowens (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) gave Hood the lead less than a minute later.

Reggie Daniels (Abingdon, Md. / Patterson Mill) started the Blazers' 3-point streak with 12:08 to play for an 18-14 lead. Will Shlosser pulled the Blue Jays back to within one before Cade Woody (Damascus, Md. / Damascus) sank the first of his three threes to extend the lead to 21-17 with 10:23 on the first half clock.

The long range field goal by the freshman started a 26-4 run that featured 23 straight points from either 3-point range or the free throw line. All three of Woody's threes came during the run, while Terell Buyck (District Heights, Md. / Bishop McNamara), Davon Hill (Clinton, Md. / Potomac School), and Cameron Cook (Baltimore, Md. / Calvert Hall) connected from beyond the arc. It was not until Hill hit a field goal and was fouled that Hood hit a 2-point field goal during the run. The reserve guard sank the free throw for a 44-21 lead with 3:12 remaining in the half.

The Blazers went 6-of-7 from 3-point range during the game-changing run and matched that mark from the line, while attempting just two shots from inside the arc.

Cook scored 13 of his game-high 15 points in the first half as Hood went into the locker room ahead 45-28.

A 3-point play by Chris Cook (Mechanicsburg, Va. / Lee-Davis) put the Blazers ahead 51-29 less than a minute after play resumed in the second half. After Ryan Borzager cut the lead back under 20 points with a three, Matt Galloway (Sterling, Va. / Potomac Falls) sank back-to-back 3-pointers to stretch the lead 56-32 with 17:48 to play.

From that point on, Elizabethtown never got closer than 20 points, with Hood's lead ballooning to as many as 28 after another Galloway three with 6:42 to play made it 73-45.

Cameron Cook hit 4-of-7 field goals, including 3-of-6 from distance, and went a perfect 4-of-4 from the line. The senior added game-highs with seven rebounds and four steals to his afternoon.

The Blazers hit 53 percent from the field and 62 percent from 3-point range. The mark from behind the arc is tied for the fifth highest single-game accuracy in school history. Seven different players connected on threes, with all seven hitting at least half of their attempts.

Chris Cook and Hill finished with 12 points apiece. Cook dished out a game-high five assists, shot 3-of-5 from the floor and 6-of-7 from the free throw line. Hill was 3-of-6 shooting and 5-of-7 on free throws. Galloway chipped in with 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting, including 3-of-4 from 3-point range, and had three assists.

Reserve forward Trevor Magnuski (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) passed out four assists.

For Elizabethtown, Borzager was the only player in double figures with 13 points, including four threes.

The Blazers limited the Blue Jays to just 33 percent shooting and 29 percent from long range.
