One-Handed Dunk Highlight Of Hope's 88-73 Win Vs. Albion

The Hope College men's basketball team defeated Albion College 88-73 on Saturday at DeVos Fieldhouse to avenge its only Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association loss of the season.

The MIAA-leading Flying Dutchmen improved to 15-6 overall and 9-1 in MIAA play.

Sophomore guard Ben Gardner of Carmel, Ind. (Carmel HS), netted a game-high 20 points for Hope, which shot 54.4 percent from the field (31-of-57). Gardner also led the Flying Dutchmen with a game-high seven rebounds and five assists.

 

Four of Gardner's teammates also reached double figures in scoring.

Sophomore guard Alex Eidson of Grand Haven (Grand Haven HS) totaled 14 points, including three 3-pointers.

Junior guard Corey McMahon of Glenview, Ill. (Glenbrook South HS, scored 13 points off the bench, including three 3-pointers.

Freshman forward Cody Stuive of Hudsonville (Hudsonville HS) matched his career-high with 10 points in his seventh consecutive start.

Sophomore center Brock Benson also scored 10 points, including a first-half, one-handed slam off a missed 3-pointer with 5 minutes, 5 seconds in the first half.

Albion beat Hope 68-49 on January 15 at Albion.
