GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Griffins used some key shooting from downtown to pull away from visiting Marywood, 78-67, in Colonial States Athletic Conference action on Saturday.

Gwynedd Mercy connected on 10 three-pointers for the game, five in each half, all coming in bunches. After the Pacers would take a late four-point lead in the first half, the Griffins fired of treys from Justin Knight and Darnell Artis to take a 33-29 edge into the locker room.

In the second, GM (14-5, 10-2 CSAC) looked to take control, but Marywood just wouldn't go away. Shane Letthand would drive to the lane on a fast break for two to make it a 58-55 Griffin lead with 8:10 minutes to play. From there, Gwynedd zeroed in as Knight hit for back-to-back three's followed by Artis with two more in consecutive possessions as part of a 12-3 run to open up a double-digit lead to which they were able to hold Marywood at bay.

Artis would finish with a game-high 19 points. Knight added 17 along with eight boards, four assists, and two steals. His five three-pointers tied a career high. Freshman Cedric Elleby also grabbed eight boards while scoring 11 points and blocking three shots. Junior Seth Heinicke recorded 12 points and six rebounds.

Letthand totaled 13 points, six assists, and four caroms off the bench. He would score seven points on an 11-0 run midway in the first to turn a six-point deficit into a five-point edge. Matthew Clark registered 16 points and seven rebounds. Matt Tintle (10 points) and Ryan Corrigan (14 points) also hit for double figures for Marywood (7-12, 3-9 CSAC).

Both teams shot 42% but the Pacers were just 3-of-14 from behind the arc. GM won the battle on the glass, 46-36, as the team secured 18 offensive rebounds.
