Men's Basketball: Buffalo State tops Potsdam down the stretch

Through four lead changes and three ties, Potsdam and Buffalo State went back-and-forth trading baskets, but the Bengals preserved down the stretch to win 68-56 at Buffalo State Sports Arena on Saturday evening.   

Potsdam enjoyed a four-point halftime lead and led by as many as eight into the second half.

With the game tied at 53 with 4:27 remaining, Buffalo State outscored Potsdam 15-3 to seal it. 

Senior forward Rob Duquette (Peru, N.Y. / Peru) just missed his seventh double-double of the season with 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting to go along with nine rebounds. 

Zac Adams (Potsdam, N.Y. / Potsdam) made 7-of-12 shots for 17 points, eight rebounds, three assists and a block. 
Brandon Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Boys & Girls) started for the third game in a row and fifth time in his past six.  He tied a season-best with 11 points and three steals, but most notably put up season bests of 12 rebounds and five assists.  It marks his first double-double of the season and first since Feb. 9, 2013 against Brockport.

Legree Kirkland had 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Bengals (8-8 overall, 4-5 SUNYAC). Roderick Epps and Justin Mitchell had 11 points apiece. 

Potsdam (2-14 overall, 0-11 SUNYAC) will return home to take on New Paltz on Friday from Jerry Welsh Gymnasium.  Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
