LeTourneau Men's Basketball Snaps Seven-Game Losing Streak in 93-88 Overtime Win Over Sul Ross State

The LeTourneau men's basketball tandem of senior Justin Jones and sophomore Ladaria Brown each had a double double in a 93-88 overtime win to Sul Ross State to snap a seven-game losing streak.

The YellowJackets (3-10, 2-8 ASC) scored the first eight points of the extra period en route to the win. Jones recorded his seventh double double of the season with a 24 point, 13-rebound effort; plus Brown added 24 points and 12 rebounds in the win. Brown also handed out five assists in the win.

The duo was joined in double digits by junior Aaron Frizell, who added a career-best 21 points on the strength of five 3 pointers in the win.

The Lobos (6-8, 5-6 ASC) got a game-high 25 points from Mychal Pinson. He was joined in double figures by Percy Settle and Darrell Gardner, who added 12 and 10 points, respectively.

LeTourneau shot a season-best 53.4% (31-for-58) from the field including a 59.1% (13-for-22) effort from the 3-point line.  The YellowJackets outrebounded Sul Ross State by a 49 to 31 margin.

Frizell had five 3 pointers – four of which came in the first half - to lead LeTourneau, Brown knocked down four and Jones added two. The 13 three pointers are a season-high for the YellowJackets.

LeTourneau will continue its road trip with a trip to Brownwood on Saturday with a 3 p.m. tilt against Howard Payne University.
