Hardin-Simmons University led from start-to-finish en route to a 74-37 win over the LeTourneau University men's basketball team on Saturday afternoon at Solheim Arena.

The Cowboys (6-6, 6-3 ASC) were strong on the inside-outside game in the win. Titus Mims scored a game-high 21 – most of which came on the inside - to lead HSU and he was joined in double digits by Derrick Jefferson and Charles Sims, who each scored 12. Jefferson got eight of his 12 from the free-throw line and Sams got his 12 on the strength of four 3 pointers.

The YellowJackets (2-10, 1-8 ASC) were led by senior Justin Jones, who just missed his sixth double double, with a team-best 18 points and nine rebounds in the loss.

Hardin Simmons built a quick 11-2 run to start the contest - seven of the 11 came from Mims to lead the Cowboys. HSU eventually would stretch the margin to as much as 24 in the first 20 minutes as they shot 51.9% (14-for-27) from the field.

LeTourneau scored the first nine points of the second half to cut the deficit to 11, 40-29, when sophomore Ladaria Brown made a jumper with 17:09 to play. However a 12-0 run by the visitors kept the home team from getting any closer and the Cowboys would stretch the lead to as much as 39.

The YellowJackets will now take to the road for the first time in 2014 when they travel to Sul Ross State in Alpine on Thursday, Jan. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
