Granville Gittens scored a career-high 35 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double to lead the Baruch College Bearcats to 78-64 non-conference home win over Wesleyan University on Sunday afternoon in the ARC Arena.

The visiting Cardinals (6-10) from New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) jumped out to the lead (17-10) through the opening nine minutes of play, but the Bearcats scored 18 of the next 27 points to own a narrow 28-26 advantage into the halftime break.

They continued to lead the Cardinals by two points (32-30) with 16:52 left, but broke open the game with eight straight points to go ahead 40-30 with 13:34 left.

They never let up the pressure and continued the momentum as Gittens singlehandedly beat the Cardinals with 25 second half points (10-15 fg) to help the Bearcats (9-8) lead by as much as 18 points (62-44) with 5:25 remaining.

The Cardinals could not recover and struggled in the second half shooting 36.1 percent (13-for-36), which included 5-for-20 from 3-point range.

Raymond De La Cruz was busy this afternoon with 16 points, five rebounds and three assists. Edward Roscigno totaled 11 points, six assists and two steals in another solid effort directing the offense.

Gittens, who scored 34 points earlier this season against another NESCAC opponent Middlebury, added one block to his line total this afternoon.

The Bearcats finished shooting 51.9 percent (27-for-52) in the game, which included 16-of-27 in the second half.

Rashid Epps led the visitors with a double-double of 13 points, 15 rebounds and two blocked shots.

The men's basketball team will return to action on Wednesday night with a CUNYAC contest uptown at Hunter College scheduled for 7:00 pm.
