Millikin Men Lose Tough One at Home

Carthage took the lead right away and maintained it throughout the whole game.  The Big Blue men came within four but it was not enough.  At the half break, the Big Blue trailed 27-40. 

Millikin fought back the second half scoring the first nine points of the second half and were again within four, 40-36.  They were able to come back within four with one minute remaining in the second half but Carthage pushed forward and closed it out 76-68.

Millikin shot 46 percent and was 5-22 from the three point range.  TJ Griffin led the team offensively scoring 19 points.  Deavis Johnson was right behind him with 18 points and had a game high 13 rebounds.  Chase Robbins was the only other Big Blue player to reach double digits. 

Carthage's top scorer was this weeks' CCIW "player of the week" Malcom Kelly.  He had a career high 33 points for the red men.  Marlon Senior had 11 points. 

Carthage who is 11-5 and 4-1 in the CCIW remains in a first-place tie in the CCIW with Illinois Wesleyan University and Augustana College. 

Millikin now falls to 7-9 on the season overall and 1-4 in the CCIW.  The Big Blue will head to Augustana College to take on the Vikings next Wednesday January 22nd.  Tip of is set to take place at 7 p.m.
