A 23-8 second half run carried the Albright College men's basketball team past host Elizabethtown, 73-66 on Saturday afternoon.

Freshman Sameen Swint had a game-high 23 points and made all three shots from behind the arc. Sophomore Evan Ward had a career-high 15 rebounds and just missed a double-double with nine points.

Elizabethtown stretched a lead to five early in the second half, but two Sam Marrella free throws tied it at 37-37. Trailing 43-39, the Lions ran off seven straight points to go back in front.

Calvert Gantz' layup soon made it 53-44 Albright. When Lee Eckert hit a layup with 10:40 remaining, it broke a streak of 6:09 without a Blue Jay field goal. Eckert had another chance on the next possession to cut the gap to six points, but was blocked by Kyle Jordan.

Jordan had been called for a reach-in infraction right off the tip and then committed his second foul after less than three minutes, sending him to the bench.

Etown jumped out to an 11-5 lead but the Lions quickly recovered. Albright cut it to 13-12 on two Swint free throws following an intentional foul. The Lions couldn't get the inbounds pass in with a chance to take the lead however, and Andrew Mantz converted a put-back on the other end despite being fouled.

Ward tied it at 20-20 with 9:11 left before halftime, and Jordan, back on the floor, evened things up at 22-all with a jumper. Albright took its first lead, 26-24, on Swint's basket with 6:11 remaining in the first half.

Mantz drove for two with 47 seconds left before halftime, and then added two free throws with nine seconds remaining. The Blue Jays led 33-30 at the break after closing on an 8-0 run.

Albright has won five straight in improving to 8-5, 4-2 and will travel to Hood on Wednesday.
