New York, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Basketball team connected on 16 three-pointers on Friday night, but it would not be enough, as the Bulldogs fell to the Bloodhounds of John Jay College by a score of 90-78 at the Doghouse in City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) action.

With the loss, BC drops to 3-9 overall on the year and 1-5 in the CUNYAC, while John Jay improves to 6-7 overall on the season and 4-2 in the conference.

Steven Diaz led Brooklyn with a team-best 20 points on 6-for-13 shooting from beyond the arc coming off the bench. Diaz's 20 points scored and six made three-pointers in the game are both career-highs. Harry Hazan also set new career-highs coming off the bench going 4-for-7 from three for 12 points, while starters Jai Kellman andJamel Gist finished with 16 and 13 points, respectively.

John Jay's Korede Griffith recorded a double-double with 27 points and 12 rebounds, both game-highs. Kris Owens added 26 points, while Carl Ulysse contributed with 15 points off the bench.

Following a jumper from Gist that broke a 53 all tie and put the visitors ahead by two, 55-53, with 13:30 left in the game, the Bloodhounds would rattle off 14 straight points to take a 67-55 lead, with 9:40 remaining on the clock. Hazan's three at the 9:27 mark would end John Jay's run.

In the end, John Jay's 14-0 run would be too great for the Bulldogs to overcome, as the Bloodhounds would go on to take the 90-78 victory.

The first half featured much of the same, as the Bloodhounds scored the first seven points of the game. The hosts would never trail in the opening period, as Brooklyn would only get to within one on a number of occasions, including the halftime score, trailing 42-41.

Brooklyn began the second half on a 9-3 run to take their largest lead of the night at 50-45 with 17:09 left in the game with Kellman's three capping the run. However, the lead would not last long as the eventual 14-0 run by John Jay would put the game out of reach for Brooklyn.

For the game, BC shot 36.2% (25-69) from the field and an impressive 41.0% (16-39) from three. The Bulldogs also shot 75.0% (12-16) from the line.

John Jay held the hot shooting hand going 27-for-51 (52.9%) from the field and 6-for-12 (50.0) from three. The Bloodhounds also took full advantage of the charity stripe going 30-for-44 (68.2%) from the free throw line.

Brooklyn will return to action this Monday, January 13th, as the Bulldogs will travel to borough foe St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn). The game is slated for a 9:00 pm start time. Live stats and video for the game will be available.
