The Albright College men's basketball team hosted the visiting Mustangs of Stevenson University, Wednesday night in the Bollman Center. Despite trailing by 13 points early in the second, the Lions never wavered, fighting back and avenging last year's home loss with an 89-82 victory.

Stevenson entered the game 4-0 in the Commonwealth, and 9-2 overall on the season. Winners of three in a row, Albright looked to get their fourth straight victory at home.

In their last meeting, a three-point play by last year's Commonwealth Rookie of the Year, Christian Roberts, put Stevenson ahead 82-81 with 18 seconds left as Albright fell at home to the Mustangs.

Pedro Perez was just two assists away from a triple double, and was a major factor in the Albright comeback. The senior guard finished with 18 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists, and three steals. Also leading the charge for the Lions was Kyle Jordan, who finished a rebound shy of a double-double. The senior led the team in points with 25, adding nine rebounds, two assists and two steals. Freshman Sameem Swint too played well in the comeback, scoring 20 points.

The Mustangs took an early 9-2 lead, scoring off back-to-back turnovers by the Lions.

The Lions came back and after several lead changes found themselves ahead 38-37 with just over a minute to go in the first half. However, Stevenson was able to score twice to take a 41-38 lead heading to the locker rooms.

After a Jordan jumper brought the Lions back to within three, Stevenson scored seven straight to pull away early in the second.

Despite trailing 61-48, the Lions were able to chip away, scoring nine unanswered. A Swint three-pointer made it a 63-62 with less than eight minutes left to play.

Coach Ferry's Lions continued to battle. Perez made both free throws to put Albright on top for good at 77-76. Jordan followed with a three-point play to give the Lions a four-point lead with just over two minutes left in the game.

Roberts led the way for the Mustangs with 20 points, 4 assists, and 2 steals. Junior forward Justin Kuntz had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

The Lions are now 7-5, 3-2 on the season. Albright will travel to play Elizabethtown on January 11 at 4 p.m.
