The Baruch College Bearcats lost to Lynchburg College, 77-64, at the Luck Stone Holiday Classic on Sunday afternoon in Farmville, Virginia.

The Bearcats will return to action tomorrow, Monday, December 30, at 4:00 pm with a contest against the event host Hampden-Sydney College to finish their participation in the classic tournament format. This game will feature live stats and video.

The Bearcats (6-4) started on fire by scoring the first six points and carried a 20-15 advantage with nine minutes left in the opening half.

They continued to lead until a pair of free throws by Lynchburg at the 2:54 mark gave them their first advantage of the afternoon, 25-24.

Joshua Vital would later score on a layup to take back the advantage to finish the first half with a tight 28-27 lead.

The two teams battled to start the second half and were tied (40-40) with 13:41 left, but Lynchburg broke open the contest by scoring the next six points. Matas Rascius and Ryan Kane each scored a basket to get it back as close as 46-44.

Unfortunately, the Bearcats went cold from the field at the point and Lynchurg went on a game-busting 11-2 run for a 57-46 score with 7:33 remaining.

They could not recover to suffer the 77-64 loss to an opponent that competes in the highly-competitive Old Dominion Athletic Conference (O.D.A.C.).

Raymond De La Cruz led the team with 18 points (6-9 fg) in 21 minutes. Vital totaled 12 points and seven rebounds, while Rascius had a solid afternoon off the bench with 12 points (5-5 fg) and six rebounds.
