(DANVILLE, Ky.) - The Thomas More College men's basketball team fell, 85-64, to in-state rival Centre College tonight (Thursday, December 19, 2013) in a non-conference game at Alumni Gymnasium in Danville, Kentucky.

With the loss, the Saints fall to 2-6 and with the win, the Colonels improve to 6-2.

Centre took an early 10-5 lead with 12:08 to play in the first half when Ryan Murry made a lay-up. Thomas More answered with a 20-3 run to take a 25-13 lead with 5:57 to play in the first half when junior guard/forward Drew Mumford (Louisville, Ky./Christian Academy) made a lay-up. The Colonels closed out the half on a 22-7 run to take a 35-32 lead at halftime when Andrew Steggeman made a lay-up at the buzzer.

Thomas More opened the second half on an 18-8 run to build a 50-43 lead when junior forward Jalen Clark (Frankfort, Ky./Western Hills) made a lay-up with 13:05 to play in the game. Centre then went on a 42-14 run to close out the game and win, 85-64.

Four Saints finished in double-figure scoring led by freshman guard/forward Nate McGovney (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) and junior forward Chris Richard (Louisville, Ky./Southern) as they both scored 13 points. Joining them in double-figures was senior guard D'Carlo Hayes (Louisville, Ky./Male) with 11 points and Mumford with 10. Richard and McGovney also led the team on the boards with six rebounds each and Hayes led the team in assists with three.

The Saints return to action on Saturday (December 21) when they host 11th-ranked Wittenberg University. The non-conference game is scheduled to tip-off at 3 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
