Millikin Loses on Buzzer Beater

          The Millikin men's basketball team lost 84-81 to Concordia University (Wis.) when the Falcons' Eric Kittel hit a half-court shot at the buzzer on Dec. 14 in Decatur, Ill.

          The shot capped a Concordia rally that saw the Falcons come back from 17 points down in the second half.  Millikin had a 12 point advantage 78-66 with 3:33 left in the game before the Falcons mounted an 18-3 run to pull out the victory.  Concordia took its first lead in the second half with eight seconds left on a Bradley Prinsen basket and free throw to make it 81-80 Concordia.  Millikin tied the game at 81 when Deavis Johnson hit the first of two free throws.  Johnson missed the second with Concordia's

          Millikin shot 58 percent from the field compared to 46 percent for Concordia.  Millikin out rebounded the Falcons 33 to 23.  Concordia took advantage of Millikin fouls to connect on 25-30 (83 percent) free throws while the Big Blue hit only 14-20 (70 percent).  Millikin was whistled for 28 fouls with the Falcons committing 18.

          Millikin had five players scoring in double figures led by TJ Griffin with 27.  Tommy Pilackas had 13 and Bryn Agnew and Tives Gardner each had 10.  Jaylon Edwards had a team high eight rebounds.

          Kittel led Concordia with 20 points followed by Boubacar Camara with 19.

          Millikin falls to 5-4 while Concordia goes to 3-5.

          Millikin will now concentrate on finals exams next week.  After a break for exams and the Christmas holiday, Millikin returns to action on Dec. 28 in Daytona Beach Fla. facing #17 Wisconsin-Stout.  Millikin will play Plattsburgh State on Dec. 29.
