ELIZABETHTOWN, PA --- EMU's offense was in high gear Wednesday night, shooting a scorching 56.9% from the floor en route to a 94-84 thumping of Elizabethtown on the road.  The Royals took over a close game with a run to end the first half, and then kept the pedal to the metal in the second to improve to 2-1.

The men had no issues with road legs, connecting on their first five shots to build an 11-5 lead.  Back-to-back three allowed the Blue Jays to tie the score, and the tight first half was on.

Elizabethtown led by as many as five points, and was still up 40-37 with 3:56 left in the half.  The Runnin Royals then scored eight straight points to surge back into the lead, and rode a 14-3 run to a 51-45 cushion at halftime.

In the second, EMU had an 11-0 explosion in the span of 1:08 to blow open a 68-51 lead.  An 8-0 run would get the Blue Jays within 80-72 with 9:02 to play, but that would be as close as the home team would get.

Eastern Mennonite hit 33-of-58 shots for 56.8% and their highest shooting percentage since going for 60.0% in a win over Washington and Lee on two seasons ago.  The men also nailed 9-of-15 three pointers for a 60% clip.  While EMU made only 19-of-35 free throws, and were out-rebounded for the first time this season, the hot shooting was too much for Elizabethtown to overcome.

Big man David Falk (Madison, Va./Madison) had another stellar effort, charting game highs of 22 points, 15 rebounds and four blocked shots.  It was his second double double in three games this season.  He shot 9-12 from the floor and added a couple of steals.

Ryan Yates (Alexandria, Va./T.C. Williams) connected on 7-of-11 shots and finished with 20 points, four assists, three steals and three blocks.  RJ Sims (Fort Washington, Md./Friendly) was good for 13 points and a game high five assists.  Ryan Bush (Columbiana, Ohio/Salem) drilled a trio of longballs and had 11 points off the bench, while Marcel Crump (Richmond, Va./Highland Springs) also had a career best 11 counters.

Andrew Mantz had 20 points and four steals for the Blue Jays, while Lee Eckert had 18 points and 11 rebounds.

The Royals are 2-1 as they prepare for the home opener Saturday night.  They will host Lynchburg College in the ODAC opener for both teams.
