MENOMONIE (November 19, 2013) - UW-Stout shot out of the opening gates, took a comfortable 12 point lead seven minutes into the game on their way to a 72-55 win over Bethel University in the Blue Devils' home opener Tuesday at Johnson Fieldhouse.

The Blue Devils' Debonair Townsend (Sr, Milwaukee) scored only two points in the game, but he got Stout (2-1) going with a monster dunk for the first points of the game. The Royals (0-1) answered back with a bucket by Brycen Wojta, but it would be Bethel's only points for the next 10 minutes as Stout jumped to a 25-2 lead with nine minutes left on the first hand clock.

Aaron Jenny (Sr, New London) scored seven of his 11 first half points in the run. The Royals would only get as close as 15 points in the waning minutes of the game.

Jenny finished the night with 11 points. Alex Oman (Sr, Lake Elmo, Minn) tallied 13 points and Jimmy Whitehead (Sr, La Crosse) dropped in10 points.

Stout held a huge advantage on the boards, collecting 42 rebounds and limiting Bethel to 15 boards. Townsend led the way with seven rebounds. All 17 players suited up for Stout played and all but two scored.

Bethel got a game-high 21 points from Wojta and Edward Scott added 12 points.

Stout will travel to Luther College, Monday, Nov. 25, the return home to host their Thanksgiving Tournament, Nov. 30-Dec. 1.
