Big Blue Win Season Opener

          The Millikin men's basketball team won its season opener 89-78 over Greenville College on Nov. 15 at Westminster College in Fulton, Mo.

 

          The Big Blue got a career high 34 points from sophomore guard TJ Griffin.  Griffin scored 25 points in the first half going 8-12 from the field including 5-7 from three point range.  Griffin finished 11-17 from the field, 6-9 from three point range and 6-7 from the free throw line.  Tommy Pilackas had 16 points for Millikin and Tives Gardner added 10.  Jaylon Owens had a team high 10 rebounds for Millikin along with six points.

 

          Tim Daniel led Greenville with 17 points.  Ron Harris added 16 and Jake DeWitt had 15.

 

          Millikin shot 52 percent from the field and 52 percent from beyond the three point arc.  Millikin made the most of hits free throw opportunities hitting 24-31 (77 percent).

 

          Greenville shot 47 percent of the field and won the rebounding battle 33-31.

 

          Millikin will play Westminster on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 5 p.m.
