Miller Named Finalist For Glenn Robinson Award

Reading, Pa. (Apr. 3, 2013) - Alvernia University Head Men's Basketball Coach Mike Miller has been named a finalist for the Glenn Robinson Division III Coach of the Year Award.  The winner will be announced April 5 at the Collegeinsider.com banquet in conjunction with the NCAA Division III Championship in Atlanta.

Miller guided the Crusaders to their second Commonwealth Conference title in the past three years.  Alvernia finished the regular season as the top seed in the Commonwealth Championships and defeated Arcadia University in the semifinals and Lycoming in the final.  The Crusaders were awarded their first NCAA Championship home game in 10 years and soundly defeated Albertus Magnus, 97-78, before falling at home to St. Mary's College (Md.), 72-66, in the second round.

All five starters on the team were named All-Commonwealth led by first team honoree Terrance Bridgers.

In his ninth season at the helm, Miller coached the team to a 24-5 overall record.  It's the fourth 20-win season for Miller and the most wins by the team since the 1996-97 team amassed a 26-6 record on its way to the Division III Final Four.

The Glenn Robinson Award is presented annually to the top Division III men's basketball coach. Named after the longtime Franklin & Marshall coach who has over 800 wins and is currently 12th on the all-time wins list. He has taken F&M to NCAA Division III tournament 22 times. Robinson guided the Diplomats to the Division III Final Four in 1979, 1991, 1996, 2000 and 2009. This season, he picked up his 23rd 21-plus win season
