Men's Basketball Beats Hunter

NEW YORK, N.Y.— The John Jay men's basketball team guaranteed itself a regular season record of over .500 this year as the Bloodhounds picked up a conference win over Hunter College 73-62 at Hunter on Wednesday.
 
John Jay now has 13 wins and can finish no worse than 13-12 if the Bloodhounds were to lose their remaining regular season game this season. It marks the first time John Jay will finish over .500 since the 2003-04 season when the Bloodhounds went 21-7 and won the CUNYAC North Division. John Jay also went to the ECAC Metro Regional tournament that season.
 
Currently John Jay is 13-8 (9-3 CUNYAC), while Hunter is now 7-14 (4-8 CUNYAC).
 
The visiting Bloodhounds led just about the entire contest. Hunter's only lead was a short lived 5-4 advantage in the early stages of the game. John Jay opened the contest on a 16-5 run and never looked back.
 
The Bloodhounds led by as much as 15 in the second half en route to the win.
 
John Jay was led by Michael Howard with 22 points on 8-for-10 shooting. Isaiah Holman had 15, while Korede Griffith had 13 points, eight rebounds and six steals. Jamar Harry scored 12 points and had seven rebounds and four assists.
 
Hunter was led by Lester Anim with 15 points.
