BOX SCORE

Glenside, Pa. (Feb. 6, 2013) - Alvernia University (18-4, 12-3) got 16 points from Terrance Bridgers (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) and another 12 from Lamont Clark (Parkesburg, Pa./Octorara) on their way to defeating host Arcadia University (13-9, 8-7) by a score of 64-47 this evening in Commonwealth Conference action.

The Crusaders' win coupled with a loss by Albright at Hood on Wednesday leaves Alvernia in first place alone.  The Lions are a game behind and all three teams that were tied for third lost to fall to 8-7.  With three games left on the schedule the Crusaders control their own destiny for home court advantage through the playoffs, and can't finish lower than second place.

Alvernia fell behind briefly as the game commenced, before earning the 9-6 lead at 15:41 thanks to a three from Chris Davis (Norristown, Pa./Norristown), and a jumper from Bridgers at 13:30 gave them the 11-6 lead.  The Knights rallied back and brought the game within two, 14-12 at 10:07 before Bridgers hit a three to give Alvernia some cushion.  The Crusaders added to their lead thanks to an 8-2 run that put them up 25-14 at 6:36.  The first half ended with the Knights putting together an 8-6 run to bring them within nine, 31-22 at the half.

The second half opened with three quick points from Alvernia, before the Knights put up four to bring the game to 34-26 for Alvernia.  Arcadia shrunk the Crusaders' lead even further with a three at 15:45 to bring them within four, 36-32.  The Crusaders answered with an 18-2 run through the meat of the second half to put them up 54-34 at 6:12, a lead that was too much for the Knights to rally back from.

Bridgers led all scorers with 16, while Brian Parker (Chichester, Pa./Chichester) paced Alvernia on the boards with six rebounds.

Alvernia is back in action on Sat. Feb. 9th at 3:00pm when they host Widener University in another Commonwealth Conference game.
