Bridgers Puts Up 19, Crusaders Down LVC Alvernia Beats The Dutchmen 57-44

Annville, Pa. (Jan 19, 2013) - Alvernia (12-3, 7-2) defeated Lebanon Valley (7-10, 4-6) 57-44 this afternoon in Commonwealth Conference action behind 19 points from sophomore Terrance Bridgers (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby).  With today's win, Alvernia is a half game up on Albright for the top spot in the Commonwealth standings.

The Crusaders and Dutchmen started even, with no team leading by more than five until Bridgers broke a nearly three-minute scoreless span with a three-pointer to give Alvernia the 19-11 lead at 9:44.  Alvernia gave a few back before Bridgers hit another three at 6:57 to put Alvernia up by nine, 24-15.  The Dutchmen chipped away and managed to tie the game 26-all at 2:59 before Alveria closed the half with five straight points to take the 31-26 lead.

Alvernia saw their slim margin slowly disappear as the second half wore on, until LVC took the 40-39 lead at 12:21.  Another three from Bridgers quickly gave the lead back to Alvernia and they built their lead to as much as 15, scoring 18 of the games final 22 points to take the game 57-44.

Brian Parker (Chichester, Pa./Chichester) and Kahlil Bennett (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge) each added 12, while Parker paced Alvernia on the boards with nine rebounds.

Alvernia is back in action on Jan. 21st when they travel to conference newcomer Hood College for a 8:00pm tip-off.
