Salisbury, Md. – Salisbury University's senior guard Elijah Gore (Fort Washington, Md.) made two free throws with eight seconds left in overtime to seal a 72-71 Capital Athletic Conference victory for the Sea Gulls over the No. 7 St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team Wednesday night.

St. Mary's (21-3, 9-2 CAC) attempted a last-second layup with three ticks on the clock but senior guard Travon Vann (Frederick, Md.) came up big for the Sea Gulls with a block. Salisbury outscored the Seahawks, 7-6 in the final five minutes while St. Mary's was 15-of-27 from the free throw line for the game.

The loss now puts St. Mary's in a two-way tie with Wesley College for first-place in the conference standings. The seedings for the upcoming 2013 CAC Men's Basketball Championship Tournament will come down to the final day of league play this Saturday, February 13. The Seahawks will face the University of Mary Washington Saturday at 4:00 pm on Senior Day.

Junior guard Donn Hill (Aberdeen, Md./Bel Air) paced the Seahawks with 15 points while fellow guard Devin Spencer (Baltimore, Md./Towson Catholic) added 14 points, five assists and career-best four steals. Sophomore guard Nick LaGuerre (Baltimore, Md./Lansdowne) rounded out the scoring with a double-double on 13 points and 10 assists.

Salisbury (17-7, 8-3 CAC) edged the Seahawks by one for a 31-30 halftime lead. The Sea Gulls erased a 10-point deficit in the final six minutes of the first half with a 12-2 run sparked by junior guard Tim Harwood's (Rockville, Md.) three-pointer at 5:23. Harwood paced all scorers at intermission with 11 points off the bench while Hill led St. Mary's with nine.

St. Mary's opened up the second stanza with a 16-2 run to lead by 13 points at the 14:54-minute mark. Less than four minutes later, Spencer's three-pointer kept the Seahawk margin at 13. The visitors' final 13-point advantage came with 7:37 left when LaGuerre finished off a dunk. The Sea Gulls put together a 17-4 run to tie up the game at 63-all with 1:14 left in regulation.

LaGuerre returned the lead in the Seahawks' favor at the 21-second mark but a Harwood layup with six seconds to go knotted it all up again. St. Mary's last-second two-pointer was off the mark and the game was sent to an extra period.

Harwood finished the night with a game-high 20 points while Vann contributed 16 points and nine rebounds.
