ANNVILLE, Pa.—The Hood College men's basketball team (11-9, 5-8 CC) defeated Lebanon Valley (7-13, 4-9 Commonwealth) 64-53, which ended a four game losing streak for the squad. Hood used a strong second half to put the Dutchmen away and are now tied with Stevenson for sixth place in the conference.

Hood was led by sophomore forward Reggie Daniels, who recorded his first career double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. The 11 rebounds was a career high for Daniels and his six offensive rebounds gave Hood plenty of second chance opportunities. Daniels was not just a contributor on the offensive end, as his play on the defensive end was key for Hood. His five steals were a career high and he also blocked two Dutchmen shots.

Junior guard Cameron Cook paced the Blazers in scoring with 15 points on 5-8 shooting, including 4-7 from behind the arc. Lebanon Valley was led by Danny Brooks and Matt O'Brien, who each scored 12 points apiece.

Neither team was really able to establish any kind of rhythm or momentum in the first half. The largest lead of the half was held by Hood at 18-13 after a Daniels jumper. Cook hit his third trifecta of the half with 0.51 seconds remaining and a Quinn layup that beat the first half buzzer gave Hood a 29-26 lead heading into the break.

Both teams struggled to find their shooting touch coming out of the half. Hood scored just eleven points in the first nine minutes of the half, however their defensive prowess made life difficult for Lebanon Valley as well. With the score tied at 43, freshman Davon Hill, who made his first career start on the evening, hit a big three to give Hood a 46-43 lead. A Cook three and Daniels tip-in gave Hood its largest lead of the night at 51-43 with 7:03 remaining in the game.

A made three by O'Brien brought Lebanon Valley to within three points at the 2:39 mark, but Daniels answered with a layup of his own to give Hood a 55-50 lead with just 2:05 remaining. It was the last field goal Hood would need with the team hitting some free throws down the stretch en route to the 64-53 victory.

Hood will be back in action this Saturday when they stay on the road to take on Widener University. Hood won the matchup earlier this season 85-68 and will look to take the season sweep. The game is set to begin at 3 p.m.
